TGHN Neuroinfections and Neuroimmunology Research Club launches a hotsite on HTLV’s webinar

On November 30, experts from Fiocruz, Ministry of Health (Brazil), Johns Hopkins Hospital and National Institute of Health (USA) participated in the webinar “Human T-Cell Lymphotropic Virus (HTLV): the silent threat and its neurological manifestations” organised by the Vice-Presidency of Education, Information and Communication (VPEIC/Fiocruz) and Fiocruz Pernambuco, through the Fiocruz Hub, in partnership with The Global Health Network. The event took place on the Zoom platform with simultaneous translation into English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

The speakers were the doctor from the Emílio Ribas Institute of Infectology, Augusto César P. de Oliveira (mediator), the researcher from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Steven Jacobson, the neurophysiologist from the Ministry of Health, Lucia Brito, the director of Johns Hopkins, Carlos A. Pardo, and the researchers from Fiocruz Pernambuco, Clarice de Morais and Cristiane Bresani.

Hotsite of the Neuroinfections and Neuroimmunology Research Club

During the webinar, the Neuroinfections and Neuroimmunology Research Club hotsite (only in Portuguese) was launched, a place where researchers and students could share and develop research based on the connection between basic research and innovations in health, focusing on the themes of idiopathic neuroimmunological diseases (of unknown cause) and post-infectious and para-infectious neurological manifestations of viral pathogens.

The inaugural class of the research group took place on October 19th with the participation of the professor from the University of Brasília, Ricardo Titze de Almeida. (recording available soon).
