World Health Day is celebrated every April 7, the day the first World Health Assembly took place in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1948. In 2021, its theme is Building a fairer, healthier world for everyone, calling attention to how COVID-19 has affected people differently around the world, exacerbating existing inequities, and the need to improve health for all.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Fiocruz has been working to respond to it in many realms, from diagnosis to treatment, vaccine production, capacity building and community engagement, among many others. You can find Fiocruz´s actions against the COVID-19 here.

One of the Foundation´s core values as a scientific and public health institution is open science.

You can find English material through this page and on the Fiocruz English website.

To celebrate World Health Day and to improve access to knowledge the Fiocruz Knowledge Hub at TGHN brings a selection of free online books (In Portuguese) in a variety of themes.
