Next collaborative session of PROCC brings statistical knowledge to enhance pandemic preparedness and response
Luisa Picanço (VPEIC/Fiocruz)
Nex Wednesday, July 31st, at 12:30 p.m., another collaborative session (data clinic) of the Fiocruz Scientific Computing Program (PROCC) will take place, organised in partnership with The Global Health Network Latin America and the Caribbean (TGHN LAC). This session is titled "Principled Bayesian phylodynamics for pandemic preparation," and will be held online via the Zoom platform, featuring Professor Luiz Max Carvalho from the School of Applied Mathematics at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV EMAp).
His study describes an approach that uses principled principles, Bayesian statistical methods, and phylodynamics concepts (a field of study that combines principles of evolutionary relationships among organisms with population dynamics) to enhance pandemic preparedness and response, developing models and strategies to address large-scale disease outbreaks. Luiz Max Carvalho holds a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Edinburgh, UK.

What are PROCC's collaborative sessions?
PROCC's collaborative sessions (or data clinics) are opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in research for ongoing projects or those seeking improvement. A collaborative space for discussing methods and quantitative analyses and their implications. In 2024, the sessions are held in partnership with The Global Health Network Latin America and the Caribbean (TGHN LAC).
Who can participate in PROCC's data clinic sessions?
Students and/or researchers, both from Fiocruz and external, who are interested in learning about methodological options to address their research questions, have already started their analyses but wish to discuss initial results, or have completed their analyses and wish to discuss results or possible implications, are invited to the data clinic.
Sessions take place on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 13:30 in a remote format.
How to register for PROCC's data clinic sessions?
Registrations for presentations in the second quarter of 2024 are now open. This is an opportunity to leverage research from your unit!
