New data clinic of TGHN LAC to cover Glioblastoma in Computational Biology
On 17th July at 12:30 PM, the next collaborative session of the Fiocruz Scientific Computing Programme (PROCC), also known as a data clinic, will take place in partnership with The Global Health Network Latin America and Caribbean (TGHN LAC). This session, titled "A method for in silico exploration of potential Glioblastoma Multiforme attractors using single-cell RNA sequencing," will be held online via Zoom with Marcos Vieira, a PhD candidate in Computational and Systems Biology at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute.
Marcos Vieira will present a topic that discusses a computational method to explore potential factors, patterns, and specific cellular states that may attract an aggressive type of brain cancer, Glioblastoma Multiforme, using single-cell RNA sequencing. The term "in silico" refers to conducting experiments through computer simulations. The aim is to better understand these molecular mechanisms to facilitate the comprehension and development of new treatment strategies.

What are the PROCC data clinics?
PROCC data clinic sessions provide opportunities for exchanging knowledge and experiences in research for projects under development or seeking improvement. They offer a collaborative space for discussing methods, quantitative analyses, and their implications. In 2024, the sessions are held in partnership with The Global Health Network Latin America and Caribbean (TGHN LAC).
Who can participate in PROCC data clinics?
Students and/or researchers, both from Fiocruz and external institutions, who are interested in exploring methodological options to answer their research questions, have already started their analyses but wish to discuss the initial results, or have completed their analyses and want to discuss the results or possible implications, are invited to the data clinic.
Sessions take place on Wednesdays from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM (GMT -3) in a remote format.
How to register for the PROCC data clinics?
Registrations for presenting works are open. This is an opportunity to boost your unit's research!
