A Clinical Epidemiology Symposium on Infectious Diseases begins today in Serra Talhada, Brazil
Today from 6:30pm to 9pm, and tomorrow during the day, the “1st Scientific Symposium of Sertão do Pajeú: Integrating Knowledge for One Health” will take place at the Serra Talhada City Hall in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco. The “1st Scientific Symposium of Sertão do Pajeú: Integrating Knowledge for One Health” brings together experts from institutions such as Fiocruz and the University of Pernambuco (UFPE), who will present innovative strategies to strengthen clinical research within Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS), focusing on epidemic and endemic diseases of public health relevance.
The event also marks the launch of the Sertaneja Network for Clinical Epidemiology in Infectious Diseases, a joint initiative between Fiocruz and UFPE, aimed at promoting health research in the region.
The programme is organised into three thematic modules – Public Health Emergencies, Infectious Disease Research in Serra Talhada, and Non-Communicable Diseases within the Context of the Double Epidemiological Burden. Additionally, practical workshops on the use of the REDCap platform will be offered to health students.
